Transferring project ownership

Home / Knowledge Base / General / Transferring project ownership

WEMASY allows you to transfer full ownership of a project to another person. Once transferred, the new owner takes complete control of the project and all its content.

Requirements before transferring

Before you can transfer a project, two conditions must be met:

  1. The person must be a collaborator. You need to invite them to the project first. They must accept the invitation.
  2. The person must be verified. Their WEMASY account must have a verified email address.

If either condition is not met, the transfer option will not be available for that person.

How to transfer ownership

  1. Click the configuration icon next to the project switcher in the top navigation bar.
  2. Make sure you are on the General tab.
  3. Scroll down to the transfer ownership section.
  4. Select the collaborator you want to transfer the project to.
  5. Confirm the transfer.

What happens after the transfer

Once the transfer is complete, the new owner has full control over the project. This includes all pages, settings, domain configuration, and collaborator management.

You will lose owner-level access to the project. Your access will depend on whether the new owner keeps you as a collaborator.

Note: Transferring ownership cannot be undone by you. Only the new owner can transfer the project back. Make sure you are certain before confirming the transfer.
