Home / Knowledge Base / General / Connecting a domain to your project

Every project in WEMASY needs a domain so visitors can access your website. You can use a free WEMASY subdomain or connect your own custom domain.

Where to configure your domain

  1. Click the configuration icon next to the project switcher in the top navigation bar.
  2. Make sure you are on the General tab.
  3. Find the domain configuration section.

WEMASY subdomain

A WEMASY subdomain is a free domain that comes with your project. It follows the format yourname.wemasy.com.

To use a WEMASY subdomain:

  1. In the domain configuration section, select the WEMASY subdomain option.
  2. Enter your preferred subdomain name in the subdomain URL field.
  3. Save your changes.

Note: You must have a verified email address to activate a WEMASY subdomain. If your email is not yet verified, you will be prompted to verify it first.

Custom domain

You can also connect your own custom domain to your project. This lets you use a domain like www.yourbusiness.com for your website.

To connect a custom domain:

  1. In the domain configuration section, select the custom domain option.
  2. Enter your full custom domain URL in the custom domain URL field.
  3. Save your changes.

After saving, you will need to update your DNS settings with your domain registrar to point to WEMASY. Detailed DNS setup instructions are covered in a separate article.

Changing your domain later

You can change your domain at any time. Switch between a WEMASY subdomain and a custom domain, or update your subdomain name or custom domain URL as needed.

Note: Changing your domain means the old URL will no longer work. Make sure to update any links or marketing materials that reference the previous domain.
