Cookie consent bar

Home / Knowledge Base / General / Cookie consent bar

The cookie consent bar is a notification that appears on your website to inform visitors about cookie usage. You can enable or disable it from your project settings in WEMASY.

What is the cookie consent bar?

The cookie consent bar is a banner displayed to visitors when they first arrive on your website. It informs them that your site uses cookies and allows them to accept or manage their cookie preferences.

Many regions require websites to inform visitors about cookie usage and obtain their consent. The cookie consent bar helps you meet these requirements.

How to enable or disable the cookie consent bar

The cookie consent bar is managed in your project settings, not in your personal account settings.

  1. Open your project in WEMASY.
  2. Go to Project settings.
  3. Navigate to the Site identity section.
  4. Locate the cookie consent bar toggle.
  5. Toggle it on to display the bar on your website, or off to hide it.
  6. Save your changes.

How it works for visitors

When the cookie consent bar is enabled, visitors to your website will see a banner on their first visit. The banner typically appears at the bottom of the page. Visitors can accept cookies or manage their preferences.

Once a visitor makes a choice, the bar will not appear again for that visitor unless they clear their browser cookies.

When to use the cookie consent bar

You should enable the cookie consent bar if your website uses cookies and you need to comply with privacy regulations such as the GDPR or similar laws in your region.

Note: The cookie consent bar setting applies to your project website only. It does not affect the WEMASY dashboard itself.

Tip: If you are unsure whether your website requires a cookie consent bar, consult with a legal advisor familiar with the privacy regulations that apply to your audience.
